Regime reopens Baseball Stadium with the name of Soberanía

The dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo made official this Friday night the reopening of the National Baseball State, which was renamed “Sovereignty”, after the colossus had been named Dennis Martínez since October 2017, in honor of the best Nicaraguan baseball player born in Granada.

The Sandinista mayor of Managua, Reyna Rueda, Vice Mayor Enrique Armas, government officials and other sports figures such as Nemesio Porras, the New York Yankees right-handed pitcher, Jonathan Loaisiga and former pitchers of the Major League Baseball like Vicente Padilla.

It is agreed to “declare the baseball stadium in the city of Managua with the name ‘Soberanía’ National Stadium as a tribute to the defense of the ideals of our country, our heroes, our martyrs,” Armas said when reading an administrative resolution municipal, on the spot.

Martínez, 67, is one of the most admired athletes in Nicaragua, due to his successes in the MLB, such as being the first Latin American baseball player to throw a perfect game, and holding the record for the Latino with the most victories in the league for 20 years. best league in the world, with 245 until 2018.

In addition, he is considered one of the best pitchers in Latin America by the Pan American Baseball Confederation (Copabe).

With this, the regime wants to erase all traces of the greatest figure in Nicaraguan baseball in the Major Leagues. Martínez is a member of the World Baseball Hall of Fame.

Earlier, the vice president of Nicaragua, Rosario Murillo, announced the reopening of the colossus and assured that the new name defines “our nationality and our public.”
