The Minister of Education, Patricia Correa, presented her resignation to the position before President Dina Boluarte, as a result of the deaths registered in the clashes between the forces of order and demonstrators during the protests in the interior of the country.
“This morning I presented my letter of resignation from the position of Minister of State in the education portfolio. The death of compatriots has no justification. State violence cannot be disproportionate and cause death,” Correa tweeted.
In the resignation letter addressed to Boluarte Zegarra, Correa asserted that the political crisis that Peru is going through requires “democratic convictions, respect for order and at the same time for the physical integrity and life of each Peruvian citizen, which unfortunately have been violated in the last hours”.
“As a country, we have the responsibility to find the path that leads us to give all Peruvians a viable future. Grateful for the trust, I want you to make the best decisions for the good of our Peru,” the text reads.
Dina Boluarte condemns acts of vandalism
This Friday the 16th, President Dina Boluarte lamented the deaths reported in the demonstrations in the regions and condemned the acts of vandalism recorded by “some radicals.”
“I strongly condemn the acts of vandalism that some radicals, using the good will of the people in their right to mobilize, used to attack the police, the military, civilians, public and private institutions, and against the family economy, which they continue to damage in a few days. Christmas”, said Boluarte at the graduation ceremony for lieutenants and second lieutenants of the Chorrillos Military School.
