Customs collects RD$106,184,276.13 in public auctions

The General Directorate of Customs (DGA) collected 106,184,276.13 pesos in the five public auctions that it carried out in 2022, of merchandise declared abandoned, coming from ports and airports of the country, after exhausting the due legal process.

In the five auctions carried out through the Dominican Agribusiness Bag (BARD), the DGA received: 14,260,000 pesos (February); 18,456,311.99 pesos (March); 26,366,000 pesos (June); 20,977,000 pesos (August) and 26,124,964.14 pesos (November), reported the institution in a press release.

In the period 2018-2019, auction revenue amounted to 98,630,814.36 pesos. From October 2020 to date, income for this concept is 273,572,480.66 pesos, which is equivalent, in absolute terms, to 174,941,666.30 more, representing a growth of 177.37%.

The collecting entity, through its Auction Departmentinformed that, from now on, bids will be made with a frequency of three months, complying with the new Customs Law 168-21.

Likewise, the institution announced the importance of these operations for the entity, since the law establishes that the duty and taxes stopped paying when the merchandise entered our country.

The merchandise in auction included: pieces and parts used for vehicles, motorcycles, four wheelsclothing, led lighting, machine for filling boxes and their parts, bicycles, ceramic tiles, new tires and used, new batteries for cars and parts for home appliances.

Also, consoles for air conditioners, threads and fabric, raw material for detergent, assorted confections, children’s clothing, disposable gowns for clinical use, tire repair machine, parts for household appliances and electric walkways.

In addition, bicycles, heat shrink application equipment for boxes of aseptic packagingcondenser for refrigeration room, power plant and hair care products, among other merchandise.

The process began by publishing a notice in written media with national circulation on different days, in accordance with the provisions of the Customs Law 168-21 in its chapter VII Of the merchandise auctionarticles from 121 to 136, for the regime of Customswith which merchants, importers and organized companieslegally established in the country, as well as the general public.

Then the goods were exhibited, prior to operations, in the DGA auction warehouse, in the East Haina ports and Multimodal Caucedo, during business hours.

Equipment

A group of DGA collaborators, specifically from their Auction Departmentcomposed the team that was in charge of taking the reins of said activity.

Also present were officials of the Dominican Agribusiness Bag accompanied by representatives of the notary public.

Leading newspaper in the Dominican Republic focused on general news and innovative journalism.
