Inaugurating a public office premises, visiting the site where ANDE is going to build an electrical substation, participating in the festivities of the Virgin of Loreto, patron saint of the Air Force, or awarding the national science award do not seem like activities that deserve to be postponed. obligation to fill a position that has kept the country in suspense for months due to the high suspicion of inefficiency and corruption of whoever holds it until today.
Whatever the decision of the President of the Republic, the elected candidate will be subjected to a ruthless shooting in Congress for whose account runs the agreement that will confirm him in office. The President should not exaggerate the importance of his decision because if the new tenant of the FGE turns out to be a fiasco, the responsibility will fall on the entire political class, the judiciary and the lawyers who manage the process.
The main good that must be preserved is defined by the Constitution: ensuring respect for rights and constitutional guarantees, as well as promoting the corresponding criminal actions in defense of public and social heritage, the environment and other diffuse interests. And it must do so enjoying absolute functional and administrative autonomy. The new Attorney General must forget about his political belongings, personal ties and ties of any kind that could cloud his decisions.
If the candidate closes that profile, everyone will have done their duty. If another remote-controlled doll rises to office, the country will have lost a golden opportunity to restore credibility in a fundamental institution for the Republic.
