Extra session in the Senate to agree to the new Attorney General

Hoy Paraguay

The Upper House will meet this morning in extraordinary session with the sole purpose of answering whether or not it grants the constitutional agreement requested by the Executive, for the appointment of Emiliano Rolón as the new State Attorney General.

The head of Congress, Óscar “Cachito” Salomón, set the call for the extraordinary call for this Thursday at 8:45 a.m., to give input to the message from the Executive Power, by which the constitutional agreement is requested to appoint Emiliano Ramón Rolón, in the position of Attorney General of the State.

Abdo’s decision was already revealed yesterday by siesta and was even confirmed by Rolón himself, who during the afternoon had to deny his own claims, after realizing that he should not speak ahead of time.

The lawyer Cecilia Pérez, former Minister of Justice and former adviser for Penitentiary Affairs, initially appeared as one of the favorites, due to her closeness to Abdo after holding positions of trust in the Government.

“Do your duty until the final charge. It is a legacy of responsibility and patriotism, no matter the adversity, ”Pérez wrote on his Twitter account, after the election of Abdo Benítez became known.

For his part, judge Gustavo Santander, the one with the highest score among the ternados, followed by Pérez, did not even “sound” as a favorite.
