The Vice President of Nicaragua, Rosario Murillo, announced that President Daniel Ortega is participating in the XXII Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples’ Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP), at which time the countries that have not been invited to the Summit of the Americas.
“Today is December 14 and we celebrate 18 years of sharing struggles, triumphs, in the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America, our commander Daniel is participating together with the heads of State and Government of Cuba, Venezuela, Bolivia, San Vicente, Dominica, Santa Lucía, Antigua, Grenada,” said the government spokesperson in her mid-day communication in official media.

The summit will take place in Havana, “where this afternoon they will participate in the plenary session of the National Assembly of Cuba with a message representing the people and government of our Nicaragua. There we are participating by sharing our experiences, challenges and challenges of this world, where it is up to us to continue fighting, to continue winning and to continue giving our contribution to the essential transformations of this time,” he added.
“The presidents and heads of government states of the Bolivarian Alliance of the Peoples of Our America will be speaking, sharing experiences, struggles, and victories. We are talking about paths of triumphs, of going forward, of always going further and all together because that is how we go forward and the future is ours,” Murillo said.
The United States has left Venezuela, Nicaragua and Cuba out of the Summit of the Americas, considering them an example of “anti-democracy in the region.” The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, criticized the North American country and called the action of the United States a missed opportunity due to an outdated, discriminatory and interventionist policy of Washington.
Díaz-Canel also attacked the argument of the White House to exclude Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela for not being democratic and affirmed that “the most serious problems in Latin America and the Caribbean, such as the causes of migration, economic development, the inequality, racism, discrimination, technology transfer, but it is just a “publicity show” directed at the internal politicking of the United States ».
The Cuban president regretted that the US had wasted the opportunity to make a “transcendental contribution to the region. It could have been otherwise, for that humility, self-criticism, respect and solidarity on the part of Washington are necessary.
The 10 member countries of ALBA are: Antigua and Barbuda, Bolivia, Cuba, Dominica, Grenada, Nicaragua, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Venezuela. Everyone is participating today in the continental event.
