President Maduro arrived in Cuba to participate in the ALBA-TCP Summit

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, arrived this Wednesday in Havana, Cuba; to participate in the XXII Summit of Heads of State and Governments of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA-TCP).

The Venezuelan head of state was received by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez, according to images broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión.

The meeting, which will take place at the Palacio de las Convenciones, will also provide an opportunity to celebrate 18 years of cooperation and solidarity in the region.

This summit is carried out within the framework of the commemoration of the creation of the organization, promoted at the time by the presidents of Cuba, Fidel Castro, and Venezuela; Hugo Chávez, as an alternative to the FTAA.

In December 2005, the US proposal was definitively rejected in Mar del Plata, Argentina.

Since its creation, ALBA has maintained solidarity, complementarity, justice and cooperation as key elements of its line of action and its multilateral relations.
