Poll: DeSantis would beat Trump in 2024 Republican presidential primaries

OnCubaNews

If the Republican presidential primaries were held today, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis would easily topple former President Donald Trump heading into the 2024 election.

According to a poll From the newspaper usa today and Sufolk University, the former president’s popularity is fading, although Republicans continue to support his policies to some extent.

The preferred Republican candidate is DeSantis, who leads Trump with 56% support vs. 33%, that is, 23 points of difference.

“Republicans and independent conservatives increasingly want a Trumpism without Trump,” David Paleologos, director of the Center for Political Research at Suffolk University, told USA Today.

In any case, 31% of the surveyed Republicans, voters or supporters, agree with Trump’s candidacy for the Republican nomination in 2024, 61% would prefer that another candidate continue with the policies of Trump, who has already expressed his intention of returning to the White House.

The poll was conducted last week with two samples: one of 1,000 voters registered by telephone, cell phone, and landline, with a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 points, and another of 374 Republican or independent voters with conservative ideas, with a margin of error of plus or minus 5.1 points.

In the case of the first sample, Biden, who has not yet announced whether or not he will seek re-election, leads Trump 47% compared to 40% in voting intentions. However, if the duel were against DeSantis, he would lose by four points, 43% compared to 47% for the Republican.
