Former Interior Minister Willy Huerta revealed that Aníbal Torres and Betssy Chávez had prior knowledge of the former president’s coup Pedro Castillo last Wednesday, December 7, when trying to shut down Congress.
Huerta Olivos pointed out that before the call to the ministers made by the former head of the cabinet, he and other heads of the sectors went to the Government Palace. Next, he explained that it was there that he saw Chávez Chino and Torres Vásquez enter the room where former President Pedro Castillo was minutes before delivering the message to the Nation.

“Betssy Chávez enters through the door of the main room where she is sworn in in the company of Dr. Aníbal Torres (…) the two entered the Grau room and we continued sitting waiting in the Quiñones room. The door itself to the main room opens again and Dr. Betssy enters with a cameraman and a young journalist from Channel 7, I think”, he recounted for the program ’24 hours’
“When I entered the presidential office, I observed the former president sitting at his desk in a suit, with his presidential sash and holding a sheet of paper looking at the camera. At one point he says state of exception and closure of Congress. I was surprised, I did not know that he was going to do that”, he added.
Likewise, the former minister recounted that as soon as he finished carrying out the coup, Castillo Terrones signed a document that he delivered to the former Defense Minister. Emilio Gustavo Bobbiobut assured that he did not see the content.
“From there (the former president) told me: ‘they reinforce the service at my parents’ house, at the house of Dr. Betssy and Dr. Aníbal‘”, held.
Willy Orchard also indicated that Pedro Castillo asked him to call the general commander of the Peruvian National Police (PNP), lieutenant general Raul Alfaroand, after dialing the number, he handed over the cell phone, but did not stay to listen to the conversation.
“I called General Loza on the phone and told him that the services should be reinforced on behalf of the president. Then The ex-president told me to contact the Commander-in-Chief of the Police. I hand him my phone and I didn’t see what I was talking about with him”, he narrated.
Finally, the former head of the Ministry of the Interior showed some screenshots in which he sees that, after leaving the Government Palace, he received several phone calls from Castillo Terrones and Betssy Chávez at 12:35 pm on December 7.
