Arequipa: Gloria plant remains inoperative for up to two months due to attacks on facilities

A few hours after what happened, the company issued a statement.

“This morning a group of unknown persons violently and illegally entered the facilities of our milk collection plant located in the city of Majes, Arequipa, damaging and looting private property and threatening the safety and integrity of our staff. Likewise, harming the economy of our ranchers,” the company reported in the document.

Despite the events and material damage, the violent acts did not harm the workers, as the dairy company has stated.

“Our priority has been, from the first moment of this event, to protect our collaborators. The protesters have withdrawn from our facilities, so we are evaluating the damage caused in various areas of our dairy plant, including the destruction of equipment and spaces for production and logistics, which have left the plant inoperative, which it also hurts dairy farmers. Fortunately, no member of our staff has been physically harmed.”

The company expressed concern about the effect the damage would have on their operations, as well as the economy of the ranchers they work with. For this reason, he specified that he has opted for “the temporary suspension of the collection of raw milk”, something that has already been communicated to his logistics chain.”

The emblematic Arequipa company also expressed its confidence in the restoration of social peace at the national and regional level, and assured consumers and customers that they will continue “with the supply of Gloria products at the national level, making all efforts” that allow them ” maintain the regularity” of its operation.
