The president of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), Minister Alexandre de Moraes, said today (12) that the diplomacy of the president-elect, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and the vice-president-elect, Geraldo Alckmin, represents the recognition of the fairness of the elections .
During a speech given at the graduation ceremony of Lula and Alckmin, Moraes stated that the Electoral Justice was prepared to efficiently combat anti-democratic attacks against the rule of law and “cowardly attacks and personal violence against its members”.
“The diplomacy of the elected presidential slate consists of the recognition of the fairness of the electoral process and the political legitimacy conferred sovereignly by the majority of the Brazilian people through direct and secret voting.”
The president of the TSE also promised accountability for “hate speech and misinformation” by organized groups.
“Already identified, I guarantee that they will be held accountable so that this does not return in the next elections”, he concluded.
The diplomation is a ceremony organized by the Electoral Justice to formalize the choice of those elected in the elections and marks the end of the electoral process. With the electoral diploma in hand, those elected can take office on January 1, 2023.
