Financial experts have lowered their forecasts for this year’s inflation. According to the Focus bulletin, released today (12), according to the Central Bank (BC), economists from financial institutions consulted estimate that official inflation, measured by the Extended National Consumer Price Index (IPCA), should close this year at 5.79%, and no more at 5.92%as calculated until last week.
Financial institutions consulted over the past week maintained their estimate that annual inflation will be around 5.08 in 2023. Although the percentage is the same as announced in last week’s Focus bulletin, it remains higher than the 4.94% of four years ago. weeks.
The projections for 2024 were maintained at 3.50%, while for 2025 a small increase is expected, from the previous 3% to 3.02%.
Selic
According to the market, the basic interest rate (Selic) should close the year at 13.75%. For 2023, the expected rate is 11.75%. In 2024 and 2025, the Selic should reach, respectively, 8.50% and 8%.
GDP
Experts maintain the projection that, this year, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) – the sum of all goods and services produced in the country – will grow by 3.05%. Four weeks ago, the estimate was for a growth of 2.77%.
For 2023, the expectation is that the Brazilian economy will grow by 0.75. For 2024 and 2025, the financial market projects GDP growth of 1.70% and 2%, respectively.
Exchange
Financial institutions also predict that the dollar will end this and next year at R$5.25, dropping to R$5.24 in 2024, and to R$5.23 in 2025.
