The Ministry of Public Works carries out 2,024 works and projects in the Norte Grande region focused, especially, on attacking various structural inequities that the region presents, such as the lack of water and sanitation infrastructure.
According to a report from the portfolio led by Gabriel Katopodis, the Ministry had 2,024 works and projects in force at the end of Octoberreaching 369 of the 406 municipalities in the regionthus comprising 96% of the population of the provinces of Catamarca, Chaco, Corrientes, Formosa, Jujuy, La Rioja, Misiones, Salta, Santiago del Estero and Tucumán.

In this sense, the National Transparency Directorate (DNT), headed by Roxana Mazzola, developed multidimensional statistics to prioritize the places where the works will be carried out, including the Early Childhood Inequalities Index (IPI) and the Vulnerability Index due to Water and Sanitation Deficit.
According to the Ministry, Public Works presents a wide opportunity in the Norte Grande region, but requires doing it efficiently and consolidating values.
The IPI, which takes into account data on habitat, housing, access to educational services, infant mortality and labor insertion of responsible adults, among other indicators, shows that 86% of the departments in the region present high or very high levels of inequities in early childhood: that is why 40% of the CDIs in the country are located in the Norte Grande.
While, the Water and Sanitation Deficit Vulnerability Index it registered that 87% of the departments register levels of great vulnerability, for which reason 75% of all the works of the Ministry in the matter are carried out there; especially in the provinces of Formosa, Santiago del Estero, Chaco, Misiones and Salta.
This index takes into account the lack of access to drinking water and sewage, as well as deficiencies in housing, and sanitary criteria (infant mortality, cases of diarrhea and gastroenteritis).
For its part, the DNT highlighted the transparency and citizen participation actions in these works, such as the MapaInversiones platform, developed together with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), which allows users to learn about and comment on the Ministry’s works and projects. , including location, allocated budget and progress.
