Diego Ibáñez (CS) points out that they will insist on a 100% elected body for the drafting of the new Constitution

In the framework of the prelude to the constitutional dialogues that will be resumed this Monday, the president of Social Convergence (CS), Diego Ibáñez, maintained that the community will insist on the idea of a 100% elected body for the drafting of the new proposal of Constitution.

Along these lines, the parliamentarian pointed out that “we all want experts with the right to vote”, but that “what is under discussion is who chooses these experts; if they are going to be ratified by the citizens or if they are going to be chosen by the finger by Senator Chahuán and other parliamentarians”.

However, despite the fact that he proposed an entry plebiscite for the choice of the mechanism -in case of not joining positions- he affirmed that he had “every hope that we can have a long conversation and reach an agreement”.

For their part, from Chile Vamos they have remained intransigent regarding this issue, and have insisted that the experts be chosen by legislators.

In this sense, the president of Renovación Nacional (RN), Francisco Chahuán, ruled that “what has been in question by the ruling party is the legitimacy of Congress, an issue that we are not willing to compromise.”
