The Municipality of Montevideo resolved to apply a fine to “La China” for the incidents that occurred this morning and will investigate whether the requirements for this type of event were met. Likewise, the permit for the commercial premises was revoked “until further notice.”
According to sources from the capital commune cited by Underlined, The organizers will not be able to hold events or parties in the tent where the venue operates, even the party scheduled for this Sunday at 6:30 p.m. was suspended.
On the other hand, the Prosecutor’s Office analyzes and investigates the facts and works to identify those responsible for the fight.
The incident
A party held at a local Punta Carretas in the early hours of this Sunday had to be suspended due to the riots that occurred near the end of it.
The incident occurred in the dance venue “La China”, which organized an open-air party on the boulevard. Argentine urban artists such as L-Gante (who opened the show) and Callejero Fino, who was expected to close the event, were invited to the event.
However, when Callejero Fino was presented, the event got out of control and turned violent. Groups of people from the VIP sector began to attack each other with those located in the general area, beating their fists and throwing blunt objects at each other.
The space became a battlefield where glasses and bottles flew while young people hit each other. Social networks were filled with videos showing the attacks.
“La China” spoke about it, expressing itself “angry, sad, disappointed.” The organizers highlighted that this event has been held for seven years and apologized to those who “went to have a good time” and to the work team.
The Navy spokesman, Alejandro Chucarro, indicated that it was all about “a fight” that required the intervention of the Prefecture. However, “it did not happen to majors” and there are no detainees. “Only a couple of officials from the Prefecture received some blows, but they are already discharged,” he explained.
