Culinary experience
In gastronomy you can find pan de muerto and hot chocolate in all the local bakeries, Tecate is known as the Capital of Bread since it is famous for preparing exquisite bread from family recipes that date back to 1969.
During the festival, a series of signature dinners were held by talented chefs from the entity such as Mariela Manzano, Bernabé Gómez, Eulogio Rivas, Alma Sepúlveda, Diego Vargas, Daniel Rodríguez and Marcelo Hisaki, our Mexican representative and finalist for Bocuse d’ Or Américas – the most relevant global gastronomy contest that brings together the best Chefs in the world –, just some invited Chefs such as Gerardo Alvarado and Hidekel Espinoza.
The culinary experience we visited was at the Asao restaurant located in the Santuario Diegueño hotel, where chefs Eulogio Rivas, Bernabé Gómez and Alma Sepúlveda made magic with their signature cuisine, presenting shrimp ceviche with black ash, butternut squash cream with orange blossom foam, turkey in Jamaican mole, filet mignon in fruit punch and mezcal sauce and corn pancake with cempasúchil ice cream.
Follow the route a few meters from this square, at an unmissable stop at Casa París, a beautiful cafeteria elegantly decorated, with old and dark touches to enjoy the classic Tecatense coffee. This place has seasonal drinks, so we recommend you try a Pumpkin Latte that is served in a real mini pumpkin or on the rocks. This drink is prepared with a special mixture of pumpkin pulp that is delicious accompanied by a crepe, slice of cake or the dessert of your choice.
