Cuban migrants wander in Honduras asking for food and help

CDMX, Mexico.- Dozens of Cuban migrants are asking for help on the streets of Honduras, published the medium of that nation The newspaper. The Caribbean people have arrived in the Central American country as part of their journey from Nicaragua to the United States.

Some who have run out of money have had no choice but to ask Hondurans for food on the main arteries of the cities. Along with the Caribbean, there is also a large group of Venezuelans. These are mostly identified with posters where they draw their flag. In the images published by the outlet, children are seen among the migrants.

According to data from the National Institute of Migration (INM) of Honduras, until November 17, more than 154,000 foreign migrants entered their country during the current year. The majority (62 thousand) are Cubans, followed by Venezuelans. Both countries not only share a similar political system but also a deep economic and political crisis.

“Currently, it has become a normality to see Cubans and Venezuelans in every corner of the Central District, asking for help, be it economic or food,” says the note.

A repeating situation

The hardships suffered by cuban migrants on your journey, to the point of running out of food is not new. Nine months ago, a Honduran boy appeared in different independent Cuban media for his beautiful act.

In one of the images posted by the Internet user who made the event visible, it can be seen that the boy delivered a moving note to a young Cuban woman. In gratitude for the food he gave to the migrants, she gave him a sweater. After a while the boy turned with a note that said:

“With your sorrows and longings one day you left your native lands, in search of fortune and opportunities you left. Not far away one day you will return to your lands to feel the warmth of those you left behind. De Jaffeth.Honduras Danlí”, along with a souvenir key ring.
