They warn about abnormal waves on the coast of Puerto Plata due to the incidence of a frontal system

Advierten sobre oleaje anormal en costas de Puerto Plata

PUERTO PLATA – Due to the incidence of a frontal system, the waves have begun to become dangerous along the entire Atlantic coast of the Dominican Republic, according to the authorities.

The Puerto Plata Prevention, Mitigation and Response Committee (CPMR) ordered the coastal population to take extreme precautions due to the presence of dangerous drag currents in beach areas, docks and bays.

Tourism in general is advised to follow the indications of the local Civil Protection authorities, especially when there is a restriction on aquatic recreational activities and at the beach level, given that waves between 7 and 9 feet high have been recorded.

Likewise, it is indicated that in the beach areas people must follow the recommendations of the lifeguards and avoid approaching the beach or going into the sea in places where the red flag has already been planted as a warning of danger.

It has been recommended to remove street vendors near the sea and remove beach furniture in La Ensenada, Luperón, Cofresí, San Felipe de Puerto Plata, Bergantín, Sosúa and Cabarete, given that the swell could last until next Wednesday .
