BASC security certifications are delivered to 29 national institutions

Within the framework of a cocktail the chapter in the country of the Business Alliance for Secure Commerce (BASC Dominicana) delivered certifications of the BASC security regulations to 29 national companies from the export, logistics, security and other productive areas sectors, for complying with international standards of that organization.

The activity took place in the Grand Hotel Europe, in the Colonial Zone, with the words of welcome by William Malamud, member of the BASC Dominicana board of directors and executive vice president of the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAMDR); Omar Castellanos, executive director of BASC and was attended by managers and members.

Castellanos highlighted the importance of maintaining public-private synergies to build trust in the supply chain, strengthen relationships with state institutions, and expand the focus on managing risks related to illicit trade, corruption, and bribery.

The executive director of BASC Dominicana expressed that it is necessary to promote confidence in national and international trade and cooperation to develop a culture of security in order to strengthen inter-institutional ties, the exchange of information and the implementation of training programs in integrated management systems to be more competitive.

Castellanos, stated that these international security standards contribute to compliance with world trade regulations, through the establishment of a risk management system and operational controls for the development and strengthening of its own internal structure, making transition points more efficient. where they intervene in the logistics chain.

The Business Alliance for Secure Commerce (BASC) is a non-profit association that promotes among its associates the development and execution of preventive actions aimed at avoiding the smuggling of merchandise and narcotics through legitimate trade. It is a voluntary program that seeks and supports the increase in safety and protection standards of the Dominican export sector.

The association is led by the business sector and is supported by the US Customs Service. BASC promotes safe trade through Certification in a Control and Security Management System.
