Peravia.- In an act headed by President Luis Abinader, the executive director of the National Institute of Drinking Water and Sewerage (INAPA), Wellington Arnaud, stressed that the Government closes this year 2022 with an investment of approximately 20 billion pesos in drinking water and sanitation, the largest in the history of the sector.
By leaving the expansion of the Peravia Multiple Aqueduct inaugurated, with an investment of close to 800 million pesos, to benefit more than 68,000 inhabitants, President Abinader indicated that for too long, unproductive investments were made, which would always benefit to them and left aside the real priorities of the most vulnerable.
“As I say, it is a definitive and compelling solution because the project consists of the rehabilitation, improvement and expansion of the distribution networks of the Matanzas, Paya, Arroyo Hondo, Los Tumbaos and Quija Quieta communities,” Abinader highlighted.
In addition, he added, the construction of a macro network in the Baní municipality and the distribution network of the El Fundo sector.
The president stressed that in the same way, 103,000 square meters of streets were paved, which were affected by the work carried out during the expansion. Also, it included the installation of about 160 kilometers of pipes and the placement of more than 13,000 connections.
«We are thus ensuring complete coverage of drinking water, having this good in quantity, quality and service conditions. Just how it should be. That all the people have access to water and a good service corresponds to one of the inalienable tasks of any government”, assured the president.
The Head of State stated that since his arrival in the Government they have been working to expand, modernize and undertake the necessary reforms in the system, so that infrastructures such as these are throughout the national territory.
“We believe it and we say it, but we also plan it and mainly we execute it. As I always like to highlight in this type of act, today there are no words here, there are facts, there is better water, there is government investment, there is a future and there are rights for citizens. There is more well-being and there is less impact on the pocket of Dominicans, “concluded the ruler.
Historic year for the drinking water and sanitation sector
Likewise, the executive director of INAPA, Wellington Arnaud, affirmed that this is a historic year and never before has so much been invested in the drinking water and sanitation sector, which reiterates President Abinader’s commitment to bring drinking water and sanitation to every home Dominican.
The INAPA director thanked President Abinader for his support and announced that next year other projects of vital importance for the population will be inaugurated with an investment of more than 25 billion pesos.
On her side, the governor of the Peravia province, Ángela Báez, stated that they are more than excited today, because this municipality of Matanzas did not have water and today they receive the precious liquid after more than two decades waiting for this to have a solution, until the president who listens and who is giving an answer arrived at the National Palace, letting the change be felt.
