The cultural exhibition of afro rhythms will be facilitated by Bruna Vázquez “like a passage through the time machine, the workshop goes through the essence of afro rhythms” says the invitation.
The event will be held within the framework of “Bembé (Fiesta a Orishas) and is an activity organized by the Secretary of Racial Ethnic Equity and Migrant Populations of the Municipality of Montevideo, Open Model and the MEC within the framework of National Candombe Day, Afro-Uruguayan Culture and Racial Equity.
With this meeting, the eviction of the Medio Mundo Conventillo that took place on December 3, 1978 is remembered and commemorated, a fact that, added to the eviction of the Ansina Conventillo a year later, “accentuated the racist, discriminatory and exclusive policies of the dictatorship military towards Afro-descendant families” concludes the invitation.
Within the framework of this date, the Municipality of Montevideo carried out a series of activities aimed at promoting the visibility of Afro culture, racial equity, citizen participation and combating all manifestations of racism. BEMBÉ (Orishas Party) is the closing of said commemoration.
