Sales in supermarkets rose 4.3% in November and in shopping malls, 57.9%

The sales in supermarkets increased during November 4.3% In relation to the same month of 2020, the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (Indec) reported this Wednesday.

For its part, in the large shopping centers the growth was 57.9% in the same perioddue to the fact that in November 2020 the shopping malls just began to consolidate the reopening after the isolation decreed in the first wave of coronavirus.

In supermarkets, based on the Indec reportthe reference prices marked a rise of 2.3% during the eleventh month of 2021, two tenths less than 2.5% of the consumer price index (CPI).

Meanwhile, in wholesale centers and self-service stores, sales increased 5.8% in year-on-year terms and 7% in relation to October.

In supermarkets, during November, total sales at current prices made in cash amounted to $43,773 millionwhich represented 30.9% of the total and an increase of 51.8% compared to the same month of 2020.

On the other hand, transactions carried out with debit cards totaled $39,957 million, equivalent to 28.2% of the total and with a rise of 69.7% compared to the same month of the previous year.

Total sales at current prices paid by credit card totaled $50,605 million, 35.7% of the total and an increase of 51.2% compared to 2020.

As for sales in large shopping malls, in November they increased 57.9% year-on-year.

By region, based on the total amount traded, in the City of Buenos Aires and Greater Buenos Aires, sales grew 63.6% compared to November 2020; while in the rest of the country the improvement was 50%.

By region, the Indec reported that sales in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires and the Conurbano explained 60.8% of the total billing registered in November by the large purchasing centers.
