The general manager of the Dominican team for the World Baseball Classic, Nelson Cruz, exhausted the day of winter meetings of the Big leagues in San Diego, Calif.
“It has been a wonderful experience that will bring good results for the team and our country,” he said.
Cruz assured that these meetings will give good results to the country.
The manager of the Dominican team was accompanied by Amaurys Nina, operational director of the Dominican Baseball Federation and Alex Núñez, the team’s liaison with the MLBwho were from Monday to Wednesday in the coastal city making first-level contacts for the benefit of the troops that will defend the country from March 2023.
“We spoke with many executives and managers, with Dusty, with high command personnel from different teams because here we are ensuring the permission of the players for the Classic and also learning a very different perspective of baseball because here I am not just a player and the truth is that It has been a unique experience”, he commented.
Recently, the Dominican Baseball Federation sent the organizers of the World Classic the preliminary roster of 50 players from the Creole troop, a number that in January will drop to 35 and then stay at 30 for the competition.
For her part, Nina said that “it is always important to come to the winter meetings, this is where everything is planned for what comes each year and accompanying Nelson and working for the Dominican team is a great honor.”
The Dominican Republic is in Group D of the World Classic that will take place from March 8 to 21, 2023, together with the representatives of Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Israel and Nicaragua.
The Dominican Baseball Federation (Fedobe) in conjunction with the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (Lidom) announced that a press conference will be held this coming Tuesday, December 13, 2022 to publicize important details of the team for the upcoming World Classic.
