González was accused of six crimes: suppression and stoppage of the state industry, illegal suppression of work, damage to public property, contempt, obstruction of public roads and conspiracy.

The Intersectoral Workers of Guyana (ITG) denounced, on August 2, the arrest of González in Anzoátegui state by security organizations. According to the complaints, the unionist was passing through Puerto Píritu on his way to the city of Caracas, where he planned to denounce a series of threats and mistreatment against the workers of Venalum, a company to which he is attached.

The union leader was transferred to Ciudad Guayana (Bolívar) where his case was filed in file FP12-P-2018-C-44. González was accused of six crimes: suppression and stoppage of the state industry, illegal suppression of work, damage to public property, contempt, obstruction of public roads and conspiracy.
Regarding the arrest of Douglas González, the ITG assured that the arrests of trade unionists they are made “with the complicity of all the actors in the tripartite dialogue.
