It should be remembered that Paraguay confirmed its first case of monkey smallpox on August 25.

Weeks ago, The authorities warned that the number of monkeypox infections in the country may be higher than the official statistics, for which they invited the public to consult in case of presenting the symptoms.

The World Health Organization (WHO) announced last week that it would refer to the disease with the name “mpox”, to try to avoid racist or stigmatizing comments in relation to the disease such as those that have circulated on the internet this year.

However, the body agreed to continue recognizing the term “monkey pox” as a synonym for one year.
