Bolivia and Chile reach an agreement to expedite the transit of Bolivian international transport at the Tambo Quemado – Chungará border crossing and defined that the authorities of the neighboring country endorse from this Thursday the tests that Bolivian brigades will carry out at that point.
Authorities from both nations held a virtual meeting this Wednesday to set the measures to resolve the conflict that has lasted several weeks that left more than a thousand trucks stopped.
The Vice Minister of Foreign Trade and Integration, Benjamín Blanco, and representatives of the National Institute of Health Laboratories (Inlasa), on behalf of Bolivia, and the Regional Presidential Delegation and the Regional Ministerial Secretariat of Health of Arica and Parinacota, on behalf of Chile , they were parate of the appointment.

According to a statement from the Bolivian Foreign Ministry, as a result of said meeting the following was agreed:
As of January 27, 2022, INLASA will begin taking daily PCR tests in Tambo Quemado, and must electronically transmit the results to the Administration of the Chungará Border Complex.
As of January 28, 2022, the number of health personnel assigned to the sanitary customs office in the Chungará border complex will be increased, in order to expedite the care of carriers.
As of January 29, 2022, the capacity for the attention of transport units in Chungará will be increased, with a view to continuing to expand the capacity gradually, after evaluating the results.
A new evaluation meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 1.
“Both delegations considered that the measures to be adopted contribute to reaching the goal of serving at least 300 transport units per day and valued the efforts that are being made by both parties to speed up the flow of international cargo, protecting the health of the citizens of both countries”, reports a statement from the Bolivian Foreign Ministry.
