MIAMI, United States. — Andrea Doimeadiós, daughter of the well-known Cuban actor, comedian and playwright Osvaldo Doimeadiós, left several “messages” for the government officials who attended the inauguration of the 43rd International Festival of New Latin American Cinema, which began last Thursday in Havana, Cuba.
The young woman, who was in charge of conducting the opening gala, ironized several issues that involved the senior leaders present at the event: Inés María Chapman, deputy prime minister of the Cuban regime; Alpidio Alonso, Minister of Culture; and Rogelio Polanco, head of the Ideological Department of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC).
“I am the only young Cuban actress who wants to be in Cuba,” said Doimeadiós, who made reference to the persistent cold felt in the Charles Chaplin cinema, venue for the opening of the Festival.

“Doimeadiós’s intervention has generated a lot of controversy and has aroused the discomfort of sectors close to the officialdom. One of the star moments of Doimeadiós was when he made reference to Rogelio Polanco, head of the Ideological Department of the PCC.
