Ministry of Health begins distribution of Coomeva users to receiving EPSs

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection began the transfer of the almost 1.2 million Coomeva affiliates, after the order issued by the National Health Superintendence to liquidate the company.

Likewise, the Ministry of Health assured that it will carry out an analysis of the variables of this population to prioritize high-cost diseases, formation of family groups, minors in charge of the ICBF, among others.

Our analysis of population distribution begins with the notification made by the Supersalud, on January 25, related to the liquidation of Coomeva. Now, we begin a joint data analysis between the Administrator of the Resources of the General System of Social Security in Health (Adres) and the Ministry of Health in order to determine the destination EPS for each and every one of Coomeva’s affiliates.”, explained Iván Mesa, director of Assurance of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection.

On February 1, users will be linked to the EPS and these must continue the processes that were underway, as well as attend to the guardianships and other user requests. During the last days of January, Coomeva must continue to guarantee access to health.

It should be noted that people will remain affiliated with these receiving companies for 90 days, time in which they can decide whether to continue in the same or change to another of their choice. In this way, the receiving EPS will have time to manage the risk and start the insurance process.

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection has carried out the allocation of more than 7,550,000 users to other EPS due to the liquidation carried out by Supersalud.
