The Judicial Council defined the shortlist of candidates for attorney general. It was made up of Emiliano Rolón Fernández (8 votes), Gustavo Santander (6 votes) and Cecilia Pérez (5 votes).
Now it goes to the Senate for the election of the next replacement for Sandra Quiñónez. This must be ratified, later, by the Executive. Quiñónez’s term ends in March 2023.
Finally, despite the rumors that Monica Seifart was going to be elected, such a thing did not happen. She herself resigned from the Judicial Council on October 4 to run for office.
The process began last Sunday, October 16, with the authorization of the registration period. Registration closed on Monday, November 14.
