The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) recognized this Monday 18 microentrepreneursboth from the Dominican Republic and from various countries in the region, which have been outstanding in different lines of the economy.
During the second edition CABEI-Solidarity Awards to Microenterprisedelivered at the National Palace, Hostos Rizik Lugo, director of the CABEI in the Dominican Republic and the other executives of the bank stressed that the award is intended to recognize entrepreneurs who have impacted their communities.
The highest distinction, the award for Regional Microenterprise of 2022was for the young Inoel Luna de la Rosa, from Luna Herrera Travelfocused on ecotourism excursions in the municipality of Los Cacao, San Cristóbal.
Also, in the category Environmental Impact was recognized to Yovanny Ceballosof the Dominican Development Foundationfocused on the production of organic fertilizer.
In the category Craft Creativitye recognized Iris Altagracia Martínez, from the Imbert Alley Recycling SchoolMeanwhile in digital innovationNayllire Santana Guerrero, NSG Tecnology, was awarded.
Similarly, in the category Family Microenterprise The winners were Virginia Alejo del Rosario, from Jael Óptica, and Ángela Salas García, from Cangrejo Azul Restaurant.
In agricultural development Newman Rosario Guzmán, from Concentrados Newman, and the Guatemalan Yehudi Xiomara Vasquezof Delicias and Flores del Campo.
In agricultural development Rafael Morillo Evangelista, from Miel Morillo, was recognized, while in Young entrepreneurthe award went to Wilmer Miguel Batista Vargasby Platinum Barbershop.

In Tourist Trade Daniel Nuñez García, from Producciones Nuga, excursions focused on the environment, and Honduran Daniel Antonio Chicas Santos, from Liberty Tours, were awarded.
The impact of MSMEs on the economy
In the activity, Joel SantosMinister of the Presidency, stressed that microenterprises constitute a pillar for the development of the Dominican Republic, which contribute the 38 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
He stated that this sector is responsible for generating more than 600 thousand formal jobs Y more than two millionif workers who carry out their work in non-formalized sectors and commercial activities are included.
In this sense, the minister maintained that this initiative seeks for the financial sector actors to continue offering specialized services to MSMEs and to promote the development of public policies in favor of said sector.
He said that the award reinforces the Government’s commitment to business development, especially at the hands of the young and most disadvantaged population, in addition to serving as a stage to highlight the contributions that microentrepreneurs do to the world economy.
At the event were the executives of the CABEIother financial institutions, dozens of microentrepreneurs and various personalities.
