They advocate respect for national and religious values

The president of the Duartian Institute, Wilson Gómez, and Father Nelson Rafael Clark, of the First Cathedral of America, were against changing the days holidays corresponding to religious and national celebrations, while advocating that they be respected.

The president of the Duartian Institute reiterated his call to legislators to approve the bill that seeks to restore the tenure of days of historical significance.

“Today the national celebration of the birth day of Juan Pablo Duarte, founder of the Republic, is not January 26, it is any day, since he moves only to favor leisure, an issue that generates confusion between Dominicans and foreigners. Gómez expressed during a mass in honor of Duarte for the 209th anniversary of his birth.

On his side, the priest Clark considered that, if the national dates are respected, a lot is taught.

“The world is not going to end if you don’t work one day, nothing is going to happen, this pandemic has taught us that everything is relative,” said the father.

Gómez said that he identifies with the Pastoral Letter of the Dominican Episcopate Conference on the occasion of Altagracia Day, in which he urges to counteract what he describes as “pandemics”, violence, the desire for money and the constant search for pleasure .
