The National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (Inder) announced on Monday the approval of the official practice of women’s boxing in Cuba.
The news came out during a press conference held at the headquarters of that organization, in which Vice President Ariel Sainz participated, together with the head of the Cuban federation of that sport, Alberto Puig de la Barca.

It was also known that the Cuban boxers would have their first international experience at the Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador next year.
The sports authorities on the Island reported that a competitive event between local boxers will be held on November 16 and 17 in order to form a national pre-selection of 12 fighters, according to what was published on his Facebook profile by Raúl Rodríguez, station journalist Radio Havana Cuba.
From this group would come the six girls who will star in the premiere of Cuba in international competitions during the upcoming regional multi-sport event in the Salvadoran capital.
Boxing for women has gained acceptance across the globe and has been part of the Olympic program since the London 2012 edition.
