An importer of medical supplies complained on Tuesday about the paralyzed flights of Transportes Aéreos Bolivianos (TAB) on the route to Miami, United States; He denounced that they have been affected since last year, which is why they are considering filing a lawsuit. The company responded that it will rent ships and that it will resume operations on Sunday.
“We are dedicated to importing human and veterinary drugs. The problem is not just now, but rather that for some time now we have been expressing the lack of periodicity of the flights made by the TAB from Miami to Bolivia, which should generally be three times a week. But this is not new, because in 2021 there were cases in which I had a load that was in Miami for about 40 days, that is unheard of, you do not see that anywhere. Imagine the great economic and commercial damage”, denounced the importer Leonardo Roca in contact with Central Affairs.
He stated that it is unfortunate that the TAB has not arrived in Bolivia for 15 days, despite the fact that there is a large load of medical supplies to treat Covid-19, nasal antigen tests, PCR, retroviral and antiviral drugs, and disposable products, among others. that even began to be scarce in the country, but nothing is done in the face of this damage.

“I understand that the TAB has not come to Bolivia for 15 days and there is a large amount of covid cargo, right now it is at the Miami airport and it cannot enter to make local distribution. Do not forget that this fourth wave of the coronavirus caught most of the companies that were doing imports unawares, but with these stoppages this is out of date due to these transport problems that the cargo has to do,” Roca lamented.
The businessman argued that the Government has to provide a definitive solution and not just “put patches”, since it is the only service authorized by the State and that it will take legal action due to the damage.
“TAB has a monopoly to date, there has to be more regularity, it is a great damage that they are causing us (…). We are going to make a legal representation against the TAB, because this cannot continue like this, it is not the first time, it has been quite a few months that we have been harmed in this matter”, he warned.
In a statement dated Monday, January 24, TAB stated that its MD-10_30F aircraft is undergoing scheduled maintenance, but in order to comply with the cargo transport service, it plans to resume operations this Sunday with aircraft rental, which enable you to meet your business obligations.
