the opponent Luis Blandona member of the national board of the Unión Democrática Renovadora (Unamos), celebrated the Honoris Causa doctorate, awarded on November 28, to the former Sandinista guerrilla and now a political prisoner Dora Maria Tellezby the New Sorbonne University, in Paris.
The recognition was received —at the request of the opposition— the Nicaraguan journalist Carlos Fernando Chamorrodirector of Confidencial, because the hostage of conscience has been held captive in the Directorate of Judicial Assistance (DAJ) in Managua for more than a year.

In interview with Article 66Blandón —exiled in Spain— expressed that “from Unamos we are extremely happy with the recognition that Dora María Téllez gave her, one of the politicians who has been very direct and frontal with the Ortega Murillo regime.”
He stressed that this doctorate is because the Sandinista dissident “has been fighting for all these years to have a democratic country with justice and freedom.
He also highlighted the Rene Cassin Award that the historic ex-combatant will receive on December 10 in Vitoria-Gasteiz, capital of the autonomous community of the Basque Country, located in northern Spain.
«—Dora María Téllez— is a person who continues to resist from the prisons of “El Chipote” so that we Nicaraguans can continue with the hope of achieving a better country. (…) These awards are dedicated to all political prisoners, “she added.

On the other hand, the political activist stated that the role of all Nicaraguans in exile and those who still resist in Nicaragua, “is to continue resisting. The important thing is not to lose that hope that we are going to achieve a free and just country.
The member of the Unión Democrática Renovadora was violently and arbitrarily detained on June 13, 2021. In parallel, the Ortega Police arrested other leaders of the Unión Democrática Renovadora (Unamos), including Víctor Hugo Tinoco, Ana Margarita Vijil, Suyen Barahona and Hugo Torres, who died at the hands of the dictatorship on February 12, 2022, in dark conditions.
“Let’s unite has been one of the fronts to be destroyed by Ortega”
Regarding the wave of repression at the hands of the Nicaraguan dictatorship against opponents, with greater emphasis against Unamos, Blandón said that “it is no secret to anyone” that this political structure (before MRS) “has been one of the fronts to destroy by the Ortega Murillo dictatorship».
“It is no secret to anyone that Unamos has been in the front row during all this time fighting for Nicaragua and thus creating a Democratic country, for this reason is that part of the national board is in jail or exiled”, projection.
From exile, the young opponent affirmed that Unamos will continue to work “on unitary constructions, which allow us to continue influencing at the national level, but also at the international level; This is the combination that we Nicaraguans need to be able to continue wearing down the dictatorship in Nicaragua and denouncing that what is happening in the country is a tyranny, a human rights problem and not an ideological one.”
Regarding a possible dialogue with the Ortega regime, the Unamos director indicated that it is necessary for the Nicaraguan dictator to comply with conditions, such as releasing the more than 230 hostages of conscience.
«The dictatorship must demonstrate the will to want to dialogue; It is evident that the regime, although it appears strong, is weakened and has seen desertion in its ranks (…) because the repression is not seeing what political color you are, this is reaching all Nicaraguans, that is why we must all continue united resenting to achieve a free country, “he concluded.
