The UTEP (Union of Workers of the Popular Economy) will carry out, on the morning of this Friday, a massive mobilization against the cut of the Empower Work program led by the Ministry of Social Development.
The protest of labor union of the Popular Economy is scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m. on the Pueyrredón bridge. There, the UTEP will hold a general assembly under the slogan: “Enough adjusting the humble.”
During the assembly, the UTEP It will define its fight plan to “demand that they stop cutting back on popular economy work programs,” according to the organization.
“Once again, when things are not going well, they charge back against the last men and women in line with unusual and fallacious bureaucratic criteria. It seems that their pulse does not tremble to take food off the table for the families that need it most in a critical context at the end of the year”, they indicated.
And they added: “Go look for those who fled, look who are the ones who always win, those who speculate with their wealth, we will always accompany the measures that aim at social justice, but the persecution and adjustment to the and those below, who fight it every day, we are not going to allow it”.
For her part, Dina Sánchez, assistant secretary of UTEP, told Télam: “They want to terminate beneficiaries of Potenciar Trabajo, adjust the complementary social salary that is stipulated to be half the minimum wage and stigmatize the work of the Popular Economy. Do you seriously believe that the problem is the million people who receive a job boost? The problem is the millions of people who still live in destitution in Argentina today.”
From the popular movements they warn that On December 5th, the payment day of Potenciar Trabajo, 200,000 beneficiaries will presumably not receive their income.
More measures against the cut
The Union will decide today in the assembly if new protests will be held next week in front of the Casa Rosada, they will even analyze the possibility of carrying out a camp against the cut of Potenciar Trabajo.
From the Government they raise the possibility of unanchoring the minimum wage program in order to reduce social spending, which, added to the announcement by the Ministry of Social Development to terminate beneficiaries who do not comply with the requirements, has sparked strong rejection. by the picketers.
