María Michelena was several women in one. Being a mother and a professional, she decided to specialize in business administration, she followed the path of an executive in private banking and also that of an entrepreneur. Later —when her project bore fruit— she established herself as a businesswoman, and now she also defines herself as an investor. María Michelena is today the president-elect of the Organization of Business Women of Uruguay (OMEU) and it is there where all her facets find inspiration for hundreds of women who, like her, take the reins of their destiny. The group, which is becoming more and more representative for the female business community, is faced with the challenge of consolidating sustained growth. Entrepreneurs, executives and investors stand behind OMEU with the aim of developing their professional careers keeping the gender perspective present in their business.
in conversation with Coffee & Business, Michelena referred to the main challenges that the business sector must face, and her goals as head of the board of directors.
