Sheinbaum explained that she was notified this Friday, December 2, about the precautionary measure issued by the Complaints Commission of the National Electoral Institute (INE) where she is forced to publish a message “that is not my responsibility and with which I do not agree ”.
“Once again, the INE demonstrates its bias, anti-democratic and conservative nature, by ordering me to ask citizens not to exercise their freedoms through social media and with public resources,” said the president, who announced that she will appeal the resolution.
The message that the head of government was legally forced to publish sets her administration apart from the messages published with the legend #EsClaudia that have been posted in Mexico City as well as various entities in the country.
“I categorically affirm that neither my servant nor the government that I head have any direct or indirect connection with the phrase ‘Es Claudia’, similar phrases or with any aspect related to its dissemination.
“I call on my supporters and the general public to refrain from continuing to spread my name, surname and image, through the painting of fences, placement of banners, publications on social networks or in any other way. , since said behaviors could come to constitute an infraction of the norms in electoral matters, ”says the message, from which Sheinbaum demarcated himself.
The National Electoral Institute (INE) ordered yesterday to stop the campaign on fences and canvases in favor of Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, head of the Government of Mexico City and candidate for the presidential candidacy of Morena.
The electoral authority asked the official to call on her supporters to refrain from conduct that seeks to influence the 2024 electoral process.
Deputy Jorge Álvarez Máynez, from Movimiento Ciudadano (MC), and other citizens filed complaints against the head of government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum, derived from her participation in different events in which, they allege, acts are configured pre-campaign and campaign advances, misuse of public resources, personalized promotion and improper dissemination of their work report, requesting precautionary measures and preventive protection.
The complainants evidenced the painting of fences and the placement of tarpaulins in different parts of the Mexican Republic, as well as the dissemination on social networks of the phrases “#EsElla”, “EsClaudia”, and “so that the transformation continues”.
The Complaints and Complaints Commission of the National Electoral Institute (INE) determined the origin of the precautionary measures, considering that there is an atypical advertising strategy, because it is propaganda with characteristics and particularities that denote identity in its content, in which seeks to position the idea of continuity associated with the head of government of Mexico City.
“Under the appearance of good law, it is considered to be facing a possible violation of the principles and rules that govern the entire electoral process, which could constitute anticipated pre-campaign and/or campaign acts, thus justifying the issuance of precautionary measures.” said the Commission.
“In view of the foregoing, the head of the Government of Mexico City was ordered, within a period of no more than 24 hours, to publicly distance herself from the denounced facts and ask her supporters to refrain from conduct that seeks to influence in the 2023-2024 Electoral Process, such as the placement of fixed propaganda or campaigns on social networks, tending to position their name or surname,” he added.
