Pepillo Salcedo, Montecristi.- President Luis Abinader started the work for the construction of the 414 MW Manzanillo Power Land thermoelectric generation plantwith the aim of contributing to the strengthening of national energy security through the generation of clean and sustainable energy.
This project, with an approximate private investment $585,500 and developed by the company energy 2000,It will generate around 2,700 direct jobs and will contribute to the efficient supply of electricity in the country for its growing development, while taking into account the diversification of natural gas supply.
Transmission Line 345 KV
With an investment of approximately $135 million includes the construction of a 345 KV power transmission line to interconnect the central Manzanillo Power Land with the National Interconnected Electric System (SENI)through an outlet with a power switch at the El Naranjo substation.
In addition, it is contemplated the construction of a gas pipeline with a length of 7.2 km, that will lead the natural gas from the port of Manzanillo to the generation plant; projects that add up modernity and industrialization to the province of Montecristi.
On his side, he Minister of Energy and Mines, Antonio Almonte, assured that these projects constitute Historical facts for the development of the Dominican electrical systemsince they create the generation and delivery capacity of energy in the DR, enough to supply the annual peak demand and maintain a reserve of a minimum of 20% that guarantees the stability of the electrical service in the country.
The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Mipymes, Víctor “Ito” Bisonó, expressed that this infrastructure will contribute to the efficient electricity supply in the country for its development and at the same time will introduce diversification with the supply of natural gas.
“From the government we have contributed to the greatest expansion of the energetic, diverse, reliable, safe and economically accessible.”
The director of the Dominican Port Authority, Jean Luis Rodríguez, assured that these power generation plants will contribute to the reduction of blackouts and boost the economy of the area.
The representative of Energía 2000, Arturo Santana Reyes, He stressed that this project promises to promote safe and efficient electrical energy, also generating effective solutions for energy demand, as well as creates positive impact and contribution to environmental effects.
