Peru arrested 23 people accused of being part of the Aragua Train

The Peruvian Prosecutor’s Office arrested 23 people accused of being part of the “Los Gallegos” gang, considered a cell of the Tren de Aragua. The detainees are implicated in crimes against public faith, human trafficking, hit men, extortion and drug trafficking


The Prosecutor’s Office against Organized Crime in Peru carried out an operation in which they arrested 23 people accused of being part of the “Los Gallegos” gang, considered a cell of the Tren de Aragua. The National Police of Peru reported that the detainees are involved in crimes against public faith, human trafficking, hit men, extortion and drug trafficking in Arequipa, a city more than 1,000 kilometers from Lima.

In this sense, the Prosecutor’s Office explained that since 2019 the alleged links of a group of Venezuelan citizens with drug trafficking were identified and they were attributed “belonging to the” Aragua Train “, later called “Los Gallegos”.

“The alleged criminal organization would have continued with the commission of other crimes such as extortion, hitmen against foreigners and Peruvians, and the crime of human trafficking, against adults and minors,” said the Prosecutor’s Office.

A note posted by EFE He pointed out that the Public Ministry said that the members of the organization “capture older women and minors through social networks” and that, so far, the criminal organization would have more than 150 members in Arequipa.

On November 11, the Prosecutor’s Office and the Peruvian National Police arrested another 30 people accused of belonging to the criminal organization in Lima. The “Tren de Aragua” is a criminal gang originally from the state of Aragua and that in recent years has extended its criminal operations to Colombia, Peru, Brazil, Chile and Bolivia.
