Santo Domingo. The Punto de Encuentro student movement on the occasion of Christmas, carried out yesterday the first day of cleaning the coast of the Santo Domingo boardwalk. The activity was carried out from Banco Agrícola to Plaza Güibia with the aim of spreading a message of awareness for the care of the environment in the country and its coasts.
The day had the support of the mayor’s office of the National District and with the presence of the councilor Víctor Ogando, who motivated the young students to promote a culture of awareness and commitment towards the care of beaches, marine areas, rivers and lakes.
“Cleanup days are a way to preserve this important resource and more so for us as students who often come to distract ourselves after class,” explained Dayana Cruz, coordinator of the event.
“We are supporting this initiative to increase awareness, contributing our grain of sand to clean up the ecosystem,” said Jonathan Lorenzo, advisor to the student movement.
He added that this type of actions must continue to be replicated in the population to avoid worse consequences in the face of climate change.
