The Government of Nicolás Maduro refined its fiscal policy during 2022, thereby increasing the amount of taxes, as well as the amounts and rates applied. To the collection of the Seniat in past years, the IGTF and the payment of the ISLR for people with low wages were added in this 2022
The National Integrated Customs and Tax Administration Service (Seniat) published the figures corresponding to the tax collection during November 2022, reporting that an amount of Bs 4,975 million was obtained, equivalent to about $428 million, by converting with the type exchange rate published by the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV), valued at Bs 11.6 per dollar.
These Bs 4,975 million are the total of the Bs 612,958,265 collected for Income Tax (ISLR), the Bs 2,589,732,667 collected for Value Added Tax (VAT), another Bs 657,035,864 in customs and Bs 1,115 .426,815 for “other external income” not specified by the superintendent of Seniat, José David Cabello Rondón in his Twitter post.
With the November data, Cabello Rondón details that the State has collected a total of Bs 25,465 million, equivalent to about $2,195 million. Of course, the figure is calculated with the current exchange rate, despite the fact that in previous months the BCV stipulated a different rate.
Despite this difficulty in making the appropriate conversion, this figure in dollars already shows an increase in tax collection when compared to the results of last year.
While in November 2022 an amount of $428 million was totaled, the results for the same month during 2021 gave a total of $270 million, when converting with the official BCV rate for the time, valued at Bs 4.6 per dollar. . This means that, at least in November, the Seniat collected 50% of what it was 12 months ago.
When analyzing the collection for the entire year, the $2,195 million accumulated between January and November 2022 compares with $1,472 million (Bs 6,775 million) obtained in the same period of 2021.
This means that in the course of these 11 months of 2022, 49% has been collected than in the same period of time in 2021.
During 2022, the Government has refined its fiscal policy and has increased the collection of taxes, resuming the payment of the ISLR for people with a minimum wage, applying the Tax on Large Financial Transactions (IGTF) that taxes transactions in dollars and updating rates of various administrative procedures.
In this way, Chavismo abandons its economic model exclusively dependent on oil income and begins to obtain resources from the pockets of Venezuelans.
