Marcello Fretes leaves Tacumbu and will be kept in house arrest

An Appeals court revoked the decision of Judge Cynthia Lovera and granted house arrest to Marcello Fretes, charged as the alleged aggressor of Benjamín Zapag.

This occurs after demonstrations by relatives and friends of the rugby player in front of the Palace of Justice, who demanded freedom for the athlete. Both Fretes and Héctor Grau have been confined in Tacumbú since November 18.

Last Tuesday, Fretes’ lawyer, Sara Parquet, had submitted a general appeal request to the Justice to try to revoke his prison.

On November 6, at the Morgan nightclub, Benjamín Zapag, the son of Raúl Zapag, was attacked by Héctor Grau and Marcello Fretes in the local toilet. Apparently the assault had no particular motive, but it did have serious physical consequences for the victim.
