With the review of 2,200 cases that are in the execution phase of convictions, the Public Defense began on Tuesday the development of its plan “immediate justice”, in which the institutions that make up the country’s judicial system also participate, including the Public Ministry and the courts.
The general public defender, Daniel Ramírez, explained that the Immediate Justice Plan seeks to speed up criminal cases in progress and consists “in constituting ourselves from the courts in the execution phase, in the company of the organs of the Justice system, for the verification of the causes criminal proceedings and, in this way, request the pronouncement of the judge”.
He indicated that this initiative seeks to guarantee human rights and the right to defense“as well as the principle of progressiveness and social reintegration of all people who have already served a sentence.”
