Youth from Chaco present at the VI Young Republic Forum

The 6th Young Republic Forum brought together youth sectors from the departments of the Chaco territory, Alto Paraguay, Boquerón and Presidente Hayes, with the intention of hearing their voices regarding their priorities and needs to establish in the National Youth Plan.

The regional forum, organized by the National Youth Secretariat, was developed with great success at the Municipal Sports Center of Carmelo Peralta, Alto Paraguay. At the close of the meeting, Minister Edgar Colmán valued youth participation to think about what district, department and country they hope for in the future.

“I come to congratulate you on this time that you have given us and thank you for taking the initiative to think about what kind of Paraguay you want. That is why we came to make this forum, in compensation and to support the Bi-Oceanic Route and the bridge that is being developed, so that you are prepared and able to draw up a road map together, where the government comes with you and consults you. , what do you think are the alternative solutions to the needs we have”, he pointed out.

He stated that “just as they have needs in Carmelo Peralta, Fuerte Olimpo, in the department of Alto Paraguay, and throughout the Paraguayan Chaco, the needs that exist at the national level are different, and that you tell us what you believe, It is very important to prepare the National Youth Plan”. He urged education and training, because in 5, 10, 15 years, the area will be highly developed and will need trained young people, who will make the region grow.

For this Forum, several institutions offered their support such as Itaipu Binacional, the Embassy of China Taiwan, Paraguay Now, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the Municipality of Carmelo Peralta, Governor’s Office of Alto Paraguay, and the Departmental Directorate of Education.

The 6th forum allowed young people from 15 to 29 years old, from the three departments to meet to share their experiences, concerns, challenges, dreams and priorities; as well as institutions and organizations dedicated to the youth of Paraguay, the private sector and academia.

The event was attended by local authorities, the mayors of Carmelo Peralta, Silverio Adorno; and from Fuerte Olimpo, Moisés Recalde; who stood out for the first time, for the presence of a Youth Minister in the area, sharing with young people in a forum, bringing technological tools to each district, and the Youth Scholarships for university students.

Youth Scholarships – First time for Alto Paraguay

At the end of the meeting, the minister of the SNJ, Edgar Colmán, delivered 40 Youth Scholarships – First Time, to 15 university students from the department of Alto Paraguay; and 25 from President Hayes.

The head of the SNJ mentioned that he hopes that next year, more young people from Chaco will be able to apply for scholarships granted by the institution, for this, furniture was also delivered to house five computers, plus a notebook in each Chaco town.

In this way, a free technological laboratory will be installed in each district, which will help more students to apply for calls made by the government for scholarships and training.
