Between 10,000 and 15,000 more students than last year could fail several subjects by the end of 2022. This was confirmed by the Minister of Education, Maruja Gorday de Villalobos, noting that this year the failures amount to between 50 and 55,000 students.
This figure exceeds that of 2021, when 40,000 students failed and it was necessary for them to revalidate.
The minister highlighted that the failures are reflected between one and three subjects and that they occur more frequently in subjects such as mathematics, natural sciences and Spanish.
Gorday de Villalobos indicated that a large part of the failures are concentrated in eighth, ninth, tenth and eleventh grade students.
He also said that the presence in the classrooms has played an important role for these results since the students have not been able to join the classes in the classrooms.
«Perhaps because of this change in trajectory, because of this change in level, number of subjects, number of teachers and everything that the adaptation process has involved, including issues of technology, resources“, he pointed out.
