#GuestColumn | never more alone

We have managed as a society to understand and change to never return to the past. This point was made very clear as one of the lessons learned from the recent citizen march on Sunday, November 13, next past.

And it is that based on trial and error, from abuse to abuse, and from excess to excess, as a population we have found that without close vigilance, permanent monitoring, and incessant demand, it is practically a matter of deficiency and human tendency to that politicians forget who they represent, why they were elected to a certain position and, in general, what are the priorities in their work. Apparently the temptations to use the position and not serve with the position have been more powerful throughout history, particularly in recent decades, and accentuated in the previous six-year term and the one that is now underway.

As our good friend Carlos Llano used to say, the one who generalizes is wrong, and in fact we have met many people who do not get dizzy with the brick, who do not forget why they first aspired to be elected, why they accepted public office and In general, what encouraged you to decide to take on a responsibility that involves working in the public sector.

However, they are unfortunately phoenixes that deserve recognition given the terrible example that many others have given whose mission seems to have been to try to amass the greatest possible fortune in the shortest period of time. Greed and disrespect for legal boundaries do not seem to have had any impact on many people who have simply acted as big crooks from the official treasury.

There is no remorse, particularly since the public punishment is often nil, the official procedures to claim responsibility are in most cases non-existent, and in many other cases they are even allowed to fool the community by flaunting their fortunes. bad luck But we insist that these enormous irregularities can only be explained by the apathy, disinterest and complicity of a citizenry that is tolerant of abuse. And that can no longer and will not continue to be so.

To show a button. The current federal administration came to power under the pretext that it was going to mount a crusade against corruption and insecurity. Such commitments with the electorate catapulted the expression of phrases such as “now we have to give it a chance”, “we can’t do worse”, or “I don’t think it can fail”.

Well, wow, the deception became apparent before taking office, and now the risk of leaving so much power in one person and his group of abject stalwarts who only understand as their mission the hoisting of populist and sterile rhetoric is fully understood. with terrible real consequences and enormous destruction for the country.

And it is before this scenario and understanding that civil society in Mexico and the population in general have already assimilated without a doubt that the solution to the great problems of the country (which today are more refined and profound than ever) involves being active parties. in the diagnosis, planning, execution, follow-up, monitoring and evaluation of public policies.

Do not assume that the political class will be able to assimilate the best practices on its own. Permanent interaction is required so that the long term can be seen, efficient and effective programs are planned correctly, priority is achieved to what really matters to the population, and trans-six-year routes are established that are not subject to the whims or occurrences of those who momentarily hold power.
