One month after the end of 2022, the Banco de Previsión Social (BPS) will grant a basket year-end payment of $2,734 to retirees and pensioners with fewer resources.
According to a resolution signed by the President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou, the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Pablo Mieres and the Minister of Economy and Finance, Azucena Arbeleche, “The beneficiaries will be retirees and pensioners who receive the current minimum retirement and pension amount as of October 30 of this year.“, in addition to those who receive old age and disability pensions. The current minimum retirement is $16,007
Retirees and pensioners with higher incomes, non-residents in the country and those who receive another benefit are excluded from this benefit. In turn, they were also left out of this benefit pensioners under 65 years of age and those who integrate households that exceed the minimum income.
For the calculation of income, the BPS will not consider family allowances, old age allowance or unemployment benefit if the beneficiary was laid off from his job.
In the decree, the BPS assured that “it is understood necessary to grant certain economic benefits to sectors” of the population “for a better enjoyment of the traditional year-end festivities that are approaching” and that they are within the “framework of the social policies implemented by the current administration, with measures and programs to improve the quality of life of Uruguayans“.
