The pre-candidate for the free nomination for the Presidency of the Republic, Francisco “Paco” Carreira Pitti presented, this Wednesday, before the Electoral Prosecutor’s Office a complaint for anomalies detected in the signature registration system of the Electoral Tribunal (TE).
The pre-candidate, who presented the evidence, explained that on Monday, November 28, at 11:09 a.m., when his work team proceeded to download the report of accepted signatures provided by the TE page, to his surprise, in three days They had registered, through the app, some 277 signatures in favor of their candidacy for an activist in the province of Bocas del Toro.
“My pre-candidate does not have apps enabled in this province, so this activist, who I do not know, works for another pre-candidate; however, I was credited with the signatures,” she warned.
In addition to this, they identified that a pre-candidate for the Presidency of the Republic appeared as a Carreira activist. “This situation gave us serious doubts about who has the facility to include or exclude signatures, activists and results from our process, and also who guarantees me that, just as signatures from another pre-candidate appeared to me, my signatures can appear in that of other.
For Carreira Pitti, the TE has the responsibility of guaranteeing a transparent process with a system that has adequate technological security, “they are spending a high budget on advertising and we do not see clear actions to strengthen the security of the system for the collection of signatures” . On the other hand, he pointed out that due process has been violated for the vast majority of candidates for free application when the Electoral Tribunal suspends the APP, without reports, without a defense and without a formal administrative act that explains the reason for the suspension. of the activists
