The mayor Carolina Cosse launched this Tuesday the XXVII Summit of Mercociudades, one of the most important local government networks in the region. Montevideo will host the international meeting until next Thursday, and the community chief participated in a meeting of the Executive Directorate as a prelude to the instance that will bring together more than 60 cities and 200 elected authorities, representatives of international organizations and other entities.

As host, the commune organized a musical show on Tuesday night in which Ruben Rada and other invited artists participated at the Teatro de Verano.
The summit’s main axes are sustainability, innovation and care in cities. Cosse led a conversation on Tuesday afternoon under the slogan: “Cities that care: sustainability of life and right to territory.”

The mayor of Montevideo is committed to the international insertion of the capital, while weeks ago she celebrated her appointment as the first female president of the network of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG). A summit in Daejeon, South Korea, brought a happy ending to several months of political work with departmental governments around the world, led by the director of the International Relations Division, Fabiana Goyeneche.
