Miguel Tejada is released: "I have been a victim of extortion"

The Fourth Criminal Chamber of the National District released the former Major League Baseball player, Miguel Tejada, who was in prison for allegedly issuing bad checks.

Upon leaving the prison, Tejada indicated that with his release it was verified that he is being the victim of extortion by the lawyer who has been suing him for several years.

He added that the next case will be to continue proving his innocence in the face of the extortion that is being done.

“I never wanted anyone to pay anything because I really do not owe and we have shown it today,” he said.

Background

Tejada was arrested at the Las Américas International Airport (AILA), because Henry Soto Lara brought a sentence to the General Directorate of Migration, which says that a judge sentenced him to six months in prison and the payment of a debt of 9 million of pesos.

While being taken to court, Miguel Tejada assured that he had been “the victim of extortion.”

According to what was explained by the former player’s defense bar, the sentence was issued in 2017. But it was not executed because it was appealed in various courts by Tejada’s lawyers to suspend it.
